Patrol

Patrol Operations is the largest and most visible of all our bureaus. The patrol bureau is primarily responsible for responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic laws, and preventive patrol. Patrol officers also conduct preliminary investigations of criminal activity discovered or reported during their tour of duty.

The City of Mission has been growing continuously over the last few years and so has the Police Department. The city limits continue to expand and the Patrol Bureau covers a geographical area that spans over 35 square miles. Our jurisdiction covers 13 miles of the Rio Grande River all the way west to some parts of La Homa road and north to 3 Mile Line. The population was just over 80,000 in 2012.

The city is divided into five geographical areas or districts in order to provide a timely response to calls for service.

The Patrol Bureau is also responsible for the security of the Anzalduas International Bridge. Anzalduas International Bridge is an international bridge which connects with the City of Mission with the western outskirts of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico which serves as the most direct route to travelers going to Monterrey and Mexico City. The new bridge serves as the most direct and efficient route between the Rio Grande Valley and Mexican cities such as Monterrey and Mexico City.

Bridge Hours of Operation are:
6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. 7 days a week including holidays.
