Mobile Impact Unit "M.I.U."
Impact policing is a proactive, data driven, problem solving approach to bridging the gap between traditional law enforcement strategies, and a focused visible deterrence strategy. The (M.I.U.) team was developed by then Chief of Police Martin Garza Jr. to resolve problems, educate, and empower communities and businesses to prevent and reduce crime.
The Mobile Impact Unit (M.I.U.) is a comprehensive bureau to assist communities in bringing people and resources together to prevent and control crime, and improve the overall quality of life.
The goal of the Mission Police Department is to work with its residents to eliminate criminal activity in the designated areas to ensure a long term positive change. The Mission Police Department M.I.U. strategy stresses collaboration, coordination, and community participation.
